End of 2015 and things to come for Wheels4Water 2016
Friends and Family of Wheels4Water,
We hope that you are enjoying your holiday season filled with loved ones and gratitude. Two years ago, we set out to make a difference in the lives of those most affected by the global water crisis, and that adventure took us to sub-Saharan Africa. We decided to use what we had to create change and raise awareness, and it seemed cycling was the best avenue to do that. In 2014, we rode over 1,000 miles from Boston to Chicago, raising $100,000 and helping 2,500 Ugandans get clean water and sanitation for life. To see the impact of Wheels4Water in 2014, check out this video.
Then in 2015, we shifted our focus to a school in Nebobongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo. As the word about Wheels4Water and our vision for helping these children in the DROC spread, we were able to devise a 450 mile ride down the coast of California from Santa Rosa to San Luis Obispo. Throughout the year and before, during, and after the ride, we were able to raise over $60,000 and help 1,153 Congolese children get clean water for life. For a recap of what the 2015 ride accomplished, check out this video.
Now at the beginning of 2016, we have a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT. This year we will again use our bikes and voices to help a school and village of the Kaliro District of Uganda get clean water for life! Only this year, there will not be just one ride with a few members of the Wheels4Water team. The Kaliro District is an desperately impoverished community with incredible challenges facing its citizens, as you can see in this video.
We are organizing 3 different teams from across the United States, teams filled with people like you who want to take part in creating lasting change against the water crisis in Uganda! There will be a Team Illinois (official ride on July 9th), a Team Arizona (official ride Fall 2016), and a Team Anywhere; where people with gather wherever they are, raise money, and ride in their own cities, neighborhoods, and towns. Team Arizona and Team Illinois each have a goal of $17,500, with Team Anywhere’s goal of $5,000, for the combined goal of $40,000. We want to give our friends and families who have supported us over the last two years to enjoy the opportunity to raise money, spread the word, and take a personal stand against this great injustice. For us, this process changed our perspective on the challenges and opened our eyes to all that can be done to help. Even if you are not the cycling type, we still need you to help the Teams reach their goals! Donate, spread the word on social media, tell your friends who are cyclists. Every little bit helps.
As 2015 comes to a close, we would deeply appreciate your generosity in end of year giving. Your contribution enables this life-changing work to continue. We’ll have more information to come, so please keep an eye out on social media (@Wheels4Water) visit our website, or email email@example.com if you have any questions. We are so incredibly thankful for all you have done to support Wheels4Water since our founding, and we can’t wait to see the impact of Year 3, with people around the world hopping on their bikes to make a difference in the lives of Ugandans.Back To News Listing
